An Ethernet DAQ data aquisition module (made by Control-By-Web).
Prototype TCP/IP temperature module. Uses an Ethernet/Serial module and PIC12 microcontrollers, allowing several temperature sensors to be read remotely via Ethernet.
PIC12F683 microcontrollers from Microchip
Pressure transducer for measuring water tank levels. The 4-20mA output is connected to a Control-By-Web input module so sensors can be read remotely via Etnernet.
Close-up: Water tank pressure transducer
Water tank levels displayed using 4-20mA display modules (calibrated to read 0-100%)
Installing sensors in Ruapehu Crater Lake
Equipment boxes at Ruapehu Crater Lake
Ruapehu Crater Lake is generally warm (with occasional eruptions) and acidic due to volcanic activity. Waders are used when installing sensors in the lake!
A ground temperature station at GNS research centre in Taupo. Temperature probes were installed in boreholes to a depth of 10m.
Temperature logging equipment. Equipment includes a Campbell Scientific logger and a logger designed in-house.
Custom-built low cost logger for ground temperature stations (prototype). This uses a PIC microcontroller and serial EEPROM for data storeage.
